Gluten Free Review of Oasis (Wayne, PA)

Y’all, I just returned from Philadelphia, and yet, my wanderlust spirit cannot wait to be back on the road. (Fortunately, I have a trip to Europe planned this month, but more details on that later. Shhhhh!)

I visited the City of Brotherly Love this Halloween!

Now, on this most recent trip to Philly, I wanted to find a new spot, so I went out of my way to Wayne, PA to Oasis Juice Shop. This isn’t a convenient stop for Philly, but it is pretty close by if you’re visiting a college student at Haverford College. Hopefully, that gives you a general direction.

My Order!

To begin, Oasis is dedicated gluten and dairy free juice shop. (I always try to stick to 100% gluten free spots while road tripping.) And, they specialize in juice/smoothies. They have fruit smoothies, nut milk shakes (that are vegan), peanut butter shakes, and fresh juices. For my trip I tried out two of the juices: Banana Strawberry and Blueberry Banana Kale.

Juice Options Galore

First off, neither smoothie made me sick! That’s why I love dedicated gluten free spots that are safe for celiacs. Next, I definitely preferred the blueberry banana kale. Since I was looking for a smoothie texture, the banana strawberry combo was a little to thin for me. I loved the sweet flavor of the blueberry banana kale because it wasn’t overwhelming either.

I preferred the Blueberry Banana Kale Smoothie- perfect texture and sweet taste!

Yet, my favorite part about this shop was the store inside. They sold different gluten free products, many of which I have only found online in the past. Now, you certainly couldn’t count on Oasis as your one stop grocery store or even to rely on a certain product. However, it is a great place to find new gluten free products!

Sorghum Pop!

I tried out sorghum pop (like popcorn, but from sorghum)! The bag was pretty big so I found the $3-4 price tag to be very reasonable. Sorghum is a bit earthier tasting than your traditional corn snack, and it took me a little while to get used to the taste. The kernels are also much smaller! However, I ended up eating the whole bag on the way home. They sell different flavors too, and quite a few of those intrigued me as well.

Beautiful row of Plentils! (Although, I still have a few bags from Camp Celiac this summer.)

If I lived nearby, I would definitely be stopping in for a gluten and dairy free smoothie on a regular basis. The staff is friendly, and I’d want to know what new products were around.

Stay tuned for next week, when I’ll have a list of all the dedicated gluten free restaurants I’ve visited in Pennsylvania. The list is getting pretty long!

Happy Travel Tuesday, and have a marvelous week!

P.S: I love sharing my travels with my friends at Fiesta Friday too! Thank you so much to Judi @ cookingwithauntjuju and Stef @ The Kiwi Fruit for co-hosting this week.

    1. Thanks! They’re aren’t many near me either that’s why I love to find them when I travel. I can’t wait to share my European adventure with y’all in a couple of weeks when I return. 🙂

  1. Sounds like you really had a great time in Philadelphia and that you found stores that cater to your health needs. As I can eat just about anything I can’t imagine how difficult it is for you to find things that agree with your stomach. Thanks for sharing with us Kaila 🙂

    1. Thanks, Judi! I always have a blast in Philly. It was my first stop after college, so I still have a lot of friends there. And, I know, I have a pesky little immune system! I like to tell my friends that I have an extra tourist attraction everywhere I go. Ever since my celiac diagnosis I love finding all the 100% gluten free spots in a city, and it entertains me for at least half a day in most cities. So, the glass is always half full! 😀

  2. Oh this place sounds awesome!! No wonder you make it a stop!!! I think I will be adding it onto my list of places I have to visit when I trip across USA 🙂
    Happy FF

    1. Thanks, Stef! I hope you have a fun trip across the US some day! Last year, I went on a HUGE road trip to 48 states. (I missed Alaska and Hawaii.) So, if you have any questions let me know. I love to talk about travel plans. 🙂
